Rev.Fr.Bernard of St. Thomas, T.O.C.D. [present day CMI ], popularly known as the historian of the St. Thomas Christians, Eusebius of Indian. Christianity, was born on January 4, 1858, in Thuruthy, Changanacherry, Kerala, India. He was Ordained, a priest in 1883. He Mastered Syriac Sanskrit, Latin, English, and other European languages, besides Malayalam and Tamil. His monumental work Mar Thoma Christianikal (St Thomas Christians), a comprehensive, elaborate and well-documented history of the St Thomas Christian, in Malayalam, Published in 1916 and 1921 in two volumes, is the first scientific study of the history of the St Thomas Christian.
